Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
• Educate patients on proper dental care practices, including brushing, flossing, and preventive measures.
• Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow.
• Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix), ensuring accurate documentation of patient visits and treatment plans.
• Maintain infection prevention protocols through aseptic techniques, sterilization of equipment, and adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
• Operate dental equipment safely and efficiently, including dental x-ray machines and other clinical tools.
• Review medical records and coordinate with healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Support infection control practices by following healthcare infection prevention standards and managing medical imaging procedures.

Experience

• Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental or healthcare environment.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to dentistry.
• Experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus, demonstrating comfort working with children in a pediatric dentistry setting.
• Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards.
• Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about their oral health needs.
• Ability to perform dental x-rays accurately while maintaining patient safety protocols.
