Job Overview

Duties

• Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and confidence.
• Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, placement of temporary restorations, and other delegated clinical tasks in accordance with state regulations and clinic policies.
• Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans using advanced imaging technology while adhering to HIPAA and infection prevention protocols.
• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, processing dental equipment, and maintaining aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; document medical history, vital signs, and treatment details accurately.
• Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures to promote long-term dental wellness.
• Support front desk operations by assisting with patient management software, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and ensuring smooth patient flow throughout the clinic.

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across general dentistry disciplines including pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and implant procedures.
• Proficiency in operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, sterilization devices, and other dental tools with strict adherence to infection control standards.
• Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices including aseptic technique and medical documentation protocols.
• Experience with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient patient record management; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable.
• Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow efficiency during procedures.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to maintain strict confidentiality of all medical records and patient information.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients of all ages; background in pediatric dentistry is a plus.
