Dental Insurance and Treatment Planning Coordinator

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Dental Insurance Coordinator / Treatment Planning Coordinator to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of dental insurance processes, medical billing, and treatment planning procedures. In this role, you will serve as a vital link between patients, insurance providers, and clinical staff to ensure accurate insurance verification, efficient treatment planning, and seamless communication. Your expertise will help optimize patient care while maintaining compliance with confidentiality policies and insurance regulations.

Duties

• Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other tools to ensure accurate billing and treatment authorization.
• Obtain insurance prior authorizations for various dental procedures, ensuring timely approval to facilitate treatment scheduling.
• Review and interpret insurance policies, including health insurance policies related to dental coverage, to inform patients accurately about their benefits.
• Manage medical coding tasks utilizing CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards to ensure precise billing and documentation.
• Maintain comprehensive medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and clinical confidentiality policies.
• Collaborate with the clinical team to develop detailed treatment plans aligned with insurance coverage and patient needs.
• Utilize Microsoft Office tools for documentation, reporting, and communication purposes while managing electronic health records (EHR) efficiently.
• Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding insurance benefits, billing procedures, and treatment options.
• Stay updated on managed care policies, health insurance regulations, and changes in medical terminology relevant to dental insurance coordination.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a medical or dental office environment with knowledge of health insurance policies and managed care processes.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and medical billing practices.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) management systems such as EMR/EHR software.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient data security.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
• Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare team members.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation and correspondence purposes.
• Ability to interpret complex insurance plans and assist patients in understanding their coverage options effectively.

Pay: $26.00 - $34.00 per hour
