Dental Hygienist

Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using advanced dental imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
• Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures with chairside assisting, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix), documenting all procedures, assessments, and patient interactions in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Follow strict infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, to ensure a safe environment for everyone.

Skills

• Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and medical coding.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures.
• Experience in pediatric dentistry and pediatrics-specific patient care strategies.
• Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while maintaining radiation safety standards.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction, explaining treatment plans clearly, and fostering positive relationships.
• Expertise in infection control practices aligned with healthcare standards for infection prevention management.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR management systems for efficient documentation review and medical records handling.
