Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental x-ray equipment, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current oral health status
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health
• Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, ensuring smooth workflow during treatments
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR/EHR systems such as OpenDental, adhering to HIPAA compliance standards
• Follow infection prevention management protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control procedures to ensure patient safety

Skills

• Proficiency in dental software platforms like OpenDental for documentation and record management
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry and pediatrics
• Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and providing care tailored to children’s needs
• Skilled in chairside assisting, including handling dental equipment and managing patient comfort during procedures
• Ability to perform vital signs assessment and medical imaging with precision and attention to detail
• Expertise in healthcare infection prevention, aseptic technique, and maintaining strict infection control standards
• Excellent client communication skills with a focus on patient education, empathy, and building trust
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR), medical coding, and documentation review processes
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations for maintaining patient confidentiality and safeguarding medical records
