Dental Assistant

Serenity Dental & Orthodontics is looking for a reliable, energetic, and patient-focused Dental Assistant to join our growing dental practice in Munster, Indiana.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with patients, stays organized in a fast-paced but family-oriented environment, and works proactively alongside the dentist and the rest of the dental team.

This role is responsible for providing excellent chairside assistance, preparing treatment rooms, maintaining sterilization and infection-control standards, supporting accurate clinical documentation, and helping ensure every patient has a comfortable and positive experience.

Key ResponsibilitiesChairside & Clinical Assistance

• Provide four-handed chairside assistance during dental procedures.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, materials, and equipment before procedures.
• Anticipate the dentist's needs to keep procedures running efficiently.
• Assist with restorative procedures, crowns and bridges, extractions, endodontic procedures, impressions/scans, and other general dentistry procedures.
• Take intraoral photographs and digital scans as required.
• Take dental radiographs/X-rays when appropriately credentialed under Indiana requirements.
• Prepare and mix dental materials.
• Assist with temporary crowns and other procedures within the Dental Assistant's permitted scope.
• Provide patients with pre-operative and post-operative instructions as directed by the dentist.
• Turn over treatment rooms efficiently between patients.

Sterilization & Infection Control

• Clean, disinfect, package, and sterilize dental instruments.
• Maintain clean and properly stocked treatment rooms.
• Follow OSHA, CDC, HIPAA, and practice infection-control protocols.
• Maintain appropriate sterilization documentation and logs.
• Follow proper procedures for sharps and biohazardous waste.
• Monitor clinical supplies and communicate inventory requirements to the appropriate team member.

Patient Care

• Greet patients and help them feel comfortable throughout their visit.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients.
• Help nervous or anxious patients feel comfortable during treatment.
• Reinforce treatment and post-operative instructions provided by the dentist.
• Protect patient confidentiality at all times.

Clinical Documentation & Practice Support

• Accurately enter clinical information into the practice management system as directed by the dentist.
• Maintain patient records, X-rays, intraoral images, scans, and other clinical documentation.
• Help maintain smooth patient flow throughout the practice.
• Communicate effectively with the front-office team regarding treatment, scheduling, and patient needs.
• Participate in morning huddles, team meetings, and training.
• Support other team members when needed to maintain efficient practice operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous dental assisting experience preferred.
• Dental assisting education or training preferred.
• Indiana Dental Radiographer License preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
• Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, procedures, and infection-control protocols.
• Experience with dental practice management software and digital dentistry technology is preferred.
• EFDA/expanded-duty training or certifications are a plus where applicable.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
