Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our vibrant dental team. Duties

• Assist the dentist during complex procedures including restorations, crown preparations, and oral surgeries using four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Perform expanded functions such as placing temporary crowns, applying sealants, and taking preliminary impressions under supervision.
• Operate and maintain dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices while adhering to infection prevention management standards.
• Process dental instruments and sterilize equipment following strict aseptic techniques to ensure clinical safety and compliance with infection control policies.
• Capture high-quality dental X-rays and manage digital images using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate documentation.
• Manage patient flow efficiently by updating medical records, recording vital signs, and ensuring patient comfort throughout their visit.
• Support patient management software use for scheduling, reminders, and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Provide comprehensive patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and ensuring a positive experience from check-in to check-out.
• Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team to facilitate procedures involving pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, or oral surgery as needed.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on expanded functions within a general dental practice.
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix for managing medical documentation and records efficiently.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures related to oral health care.
• Hands-on experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic techniques.
• Proficiency in taking X-rays (dental X-ray), operating dental equipment including 3D scanners, and performing medical imaging tasks.
• Ability to handle medical documentation accurately while maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards.
• Excellent communication skills to support patient care initiatives and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to general dentistry and specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics.

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
