Dental Assistant

Overview

As a Dental Assistant, you’ll help keep appointments running smoothly while supporting safe, attentive care for patients. You’ll prepare treatment areas, assist the dental team during procedures, and maintain accurate records. Your work may support general dentistry and specialties such as pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside assisting, including four-handed dentistry, and prepare dental equipment and instruments for procedures.
• Take dental X-rays and support medical imaging, including use of a 3D scanner, as assigned and in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Record vital signs, update medical records and documentation, and support patient management using EMR (electronic medical record) systems and patient management software.
• Process instruments and follow dental sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and infection prevention and control practices.
• Support patient care and dental receptionist duties, including appointment flow and communication.

Skills

• Essential: Dental assisting or dental clinic experience; chairside assisting; dental terminology; dental equipment; dental instrument processing; infection control; and knowledge of anatomy.
• Essential: Understanding of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), clinical confidentiality policies, medical terminology, medical documentation, and medical records.
• Preferred: Experience with Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or other EMR systems and patient management software.
• Preferred: Familiarity with dental X-ray, medical imaging, 3D scanners, vital signs, and dental receptionist tasks.
• Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control, dental sterilization procedures, and aseptic technique is valuable.

Pay: $22.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
