Look at tomorrow’s schedule. How many quads of SRP? How many 6mm pockets, how many patients who skipped their three-month recall and came back worse — again? You’ll spend the day root planing on patients who won’t floss no matter how kindly you coach them, giving the same perio talk you’ve given a thousand times to someone scrolling their phone while you say it.

And your body keeps score. The hand that cramps by 2pm. The neck and shoulder that ache on the drive home. The wrist you catch yourself rubbing in the evening and trying not to think about, because you’re only partway into this career and it already hurts.

Somewhere in hygiene school, nobody mentioned that “general practice” could mean an endless column of heavy calculus and adults who don’t want to be there. You’re not burned out on hygiene. You’re burned out on that.

Here’s how it works

Apply, then spend a day with us. One shift in a pediatric op will tell you more than any interview.

• $33/hour starting, $45+/hour based on experience, skills, and performance
• Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts, no weekends

And the work means something different here. We take care of kids from all backgrounds — including many who wouldn’t otherwise have access to quality dental care. Instead of chasing disease that’s already won, you’re preventing it: the habits you teach a five-year-old are the reason they never end up in a perio chair at all.
