Registered Dental Hygienist

Duties

• Conduct thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Perform patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and dental radiographs (X-rays) using digital imaging technology.
• Provide comprehensive dental care patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive measures, and treatment options.
• Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficient workflow and patient comfort.
• Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix), documenting treatment notes, medical records, and medical coding accurately.
• Maintain strict infection prevention management protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and handling sensitive medical information responsibly.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a general or pediatric dentistry setting, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred.
• Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and the use of dental equipment such as X-ray machines and digital imaging tools.
• Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and management.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including infection prevention management and aseptic technique.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction, patient education, and team collaboration.
• Ability to perform patient care tasks efficiently while adhering to HIPAA compliance management standards.
• Knowledge of medical coding related to dental procedures is a plus for accurate billing and recordkeeping.
