Dental Hygienist

Job Overview
Harlan Dental is looking for a friendly, dependable, and patient focused Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team. We are a locally owned, single-doctor practice that values building long-term relationships with our patients and providing throughtful, high-quality care. Our team works together to create an enviroment where patients feel comfortable, heard, and well cared for.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, and periodontal therapy.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
• Take digital dental radiographs (X-rays) and complete periodontal charting.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term health.
• Identify areas of concern and communicating findings with the dentist
• Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and proper documentation.
• Manage infection prevention protocols by sterilizing dental equipment, practicing aseptic techniques, and adhering to infection control standards.
• Review documentation for accuracy, update medical coding as needed, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
• Operate dental equipment safely and efficiently while staying current with advancements in dental technology and terminology.
• Support patient care by managing appointment schedules, answering questions, and ensuring a positive experience from check-in to check-out.
• Working closely with our dentist, hygienists, assistants and front office team to provide an excellent patient experience.

Who we are looking for:

• A licesnced Registered Dental Hygienist in Iowa, or eligible for Iowa licensure
• Compassionate and comfortable working with patients of all ages
• Dependable, organized, and attentive to detail
• Experience performing dental x-rays (X-ray) and utilizing medical imaging tools confidently.
• Strong communicator and team player
• Focused on quality care rather than simply getting patients through the schedule
• Interested in patient education, prevention, and whole-body wellness
• Someone who enjoys being a part of a smaller, close-knit dental team

Schedule: Part time- 1-3 days/week

Experience: New graduates and experienced hygienists are both encouraged to apply.

Pay: $40.00 - $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8.0 – 24.0 per week
