Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
• Educate patients on proper dental care practices, including oral hygiene techniques and preventive measures.
• Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, to ensure patient safety.

Requirements

• Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
• Proven experience in general dentistry or dental clinic settings, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred.
• Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation review and EHR management.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices.
• Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards.
• Excellent client communication skills with a focus on patient education and care.
• Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including HIPAA compliance management.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment using aseptic techniques and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
