Duties

• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
• Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Take and develop dental x-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols.
• Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as open dental while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
• Monitor vital signs and medical documentation for patients with special needs or pediatric cases to ensure comprehensive care.
• Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures to promote long-term dental wellness.
• Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with patient management software, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical records efficiently.

Requirements

• Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure or registration in the applicable jurisdiction.
• Proven experience in dental assisting within a general dentistry or specialty practice such as pediatric dentistry or oral surgery.
• Proficiency with EMR systems like Open Dental, along with familiarity with patient management software.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation, and infection control procedures including sterilization protocols.
• Ability to perform dental instrument processing, dental sterilization procedures, and maintain aseptic technique throughout clinical activities.
• Experience with dental x-ray techniques, including digital imaging and 3D scanner use; certification in radiography is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills for effective patient care coordination and collaboration with team members such as dental receptionists and healthcare professionals.
• Knowledge of medical terminology related to pediatrics, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery enhances your ability to deliver comprehensive care.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
