Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, tailored to pediatric needs.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
• Educate young patients and their guardians on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies.
• Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting all procedures and patient interactions clearly.
• Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, to uphold the highest standards of safety and hygiene.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
• Support the dental team with chairside assisting, including preparing materials and managing patient flow during appointments.

Requirements

• Valid state license as a Dental Hygienist with certification to perform dental cleanings and radiographs.
• Proven experience in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry with a focus on children preferred.
• Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and record management.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical records management.
• Expertise in infection control practices, including healthcare infection prevention and control standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively with children and their guardians to provide clear patient education.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical coding to ensure accurate documentation.
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements to protect patient privacy diligently.

Pay: $41.00 - $43.00 per hour
