Orthodontic Dental Assistant

Duties

• Provide exceptional patient care, with excellent chair-side manner
• Assist the orthodontist with dental procedures
• Review patient chart, document appropriate patient information and health history during the exam and treatment
• Preparing patients for banding/de-banding
• Removing/replacing wires & bands
• Maintain excellent patient service, integrity, flow.
• Gather and manage appropriate documentation for patient records, notes, follow-up conversations, patient education
• Take impressions/scans of patients’ teeth
• Clean, sterilize and prepare the equipment and operatory, prior to and after a patient’s appointment.
• Track incoming and outgoing lab cases, monitor and order supplies.
• Ability to multi-task and remain calm in a rapidly changing environment.
• Educate the patients on proper oral hygiene and address their questions and/or concern.
• Maintain patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance, follow safety policies and procedures through OSHA compliance and BBP (Blood-borne Pathogens).

Skills

• Proficiency with computer applications like Dolphin or Dentrix for accurate documentation and scheduling.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry principles relevant to orthodontics.
• Experience with dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, dental sterilization tools, and other clinical instruments.
• Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor.
• Familiarity with infection prevention policies, healthcare infection control practices, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
• Effective communication skills to educate patients about treatment plans and oral health maintenance strategies.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment that values clinical confidentiality policies and high-quality patient care.

Starting salary: $25 - $32 - depending on experience

Weekly Schedule: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 - 5:30

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 – 30.0 per week
