Responsibilities

• Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, and polishing to maintain optimal oral health for patients of all ages.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, medical history review, and dental examinations.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
• Operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, digital imaging systems, and sterilization tools following infection prevention standards.
• Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside support, including handling dental instruments and managing medical records within EMR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing medical records securely.
• Ensure infection control protocols are followed meticulously through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of tools and surfaces.
• Document treatment details accurately using medical coding and review documentation for completeness and compliance.
• Support patient care by taking X-rays, monitoring vital signs, and providing detailed dental care patient education tailored to pediatric or general dentistry needs.

Experience

• Proven experience working in a dental office or clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
• Prior experience with electronic health records (EHR) management systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles is advantageous for caring for younger patients effectively.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, dental terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental hygiene practice.
• Demonstrated ability to perform four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience in healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
• Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients clearly about their oral health needs while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.

Pay: From $45.00 per hour
