Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to utilize advanced assisting skills, support clinical procedures, and enhance patient care experiences. As an integral part of our practice, you will perform a variety of expanded functions that go beyond traditional assisting, ensuring efficient workflow and exceptional patient outcomes. Your expertise in dental procedures, patient management, and infection control will contribute to creating a welcoming and professional environment where patients feel cared for and confident in their treatment.

Hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 7-4 with a one hour lunch break

Wednesday: 8-4 with a one hour lunch break

Friday: 7-1

Duties

• Assist dentists during complex procedures such as prosthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and confidence.
• Perform dental X-rays and operate advanced imaging equipment including 3D scanners to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and patient management software to ensure accurate documentation of medical history, treatment notes, and clinical data in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Prepare dental instruments and sterilize equipment following strict infection prevention management protocols and aseptic techniques.
• Take vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, and record medical documentation accurately to assist in comprehensive patient assessments.
• Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient comfort and procedural efficiency.
• Educate patients on oral health care, post-treatment instructions, and dental terminology to promote ongoing oral health maintenance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with proficiency in dental assisting procedures within a general or specialty dentistry setting.
• Strong knowledge of dental equipment operation, dental sterilization procedures, infection control standards, and clinical confidentiality policies.
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with patient management software is highly preferred.
• Certification in dental X-ray technology; additional certifications in oral surgery or pediatric dentistry are advantageous.
• Excellent understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge related to the head and neck region, and proficiency in medical imaging techniques.
• Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while maintaining high standards of infection prevention.
• Exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration with team members including dental receptionists, hygienists, specialists, and patients.
