Dental Receptionist – Pediatric Dental Office

Dental Land Pediatrics is looking for a reliable, polished, and highly detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our pediatric dental team in Bowie, Maryland.

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in doing things correctly, communicates professionally, and understands that accuracy is essential when handling patient information, scheduling, insurance, and electronic dental records.

Our front desk is an important part of both the patient experience and the daily operation of our practice. We are seeking someone who can provide excellent service to families while carefully following established office procedures and maintaining accurate documentation.

  • Is willing to learn and receptive to training and feedback

Primary Responsibilities

Duties may include:

  • Greeting and assisting patients and parents
  • Answering incoming telephone calls in a professional and helpful manner
  • Scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming appointments
  • Following established scheduling guidelines and appointment protocols
  • Checking patients in and out
  • Reviewing and updating patient demographic information
  • Accurately documenting information in electronic patient records
  • Coordinating new-patient registration and required forms
  • Obtaining, updating, and verifying dental insurance information
  • Reviewing insurance benefits and assisting with patient estimates when appropriate
  • Collecting copayments, balances, and other amounts due
  • Providing receipts, statements, and requested administrative documents
  • Entering accurate appointment notes and other administrative documentation
  • Communicating with parents regarding appointments, forms, treatment plans, and office policies
  • Sending and receiving secure patient correspondence
  • Processing patient record requests
  • Scanning, uploading, and organizing documents within the electronic patient record
  • Coordinating with clinical team members to help maintain an efficient daily schedule
  • Maintaining patient privacy and complying with HIPAA requirements
  • Completing assigned front-office administrative tasks
  • Following office checklists, written procedures, and established workflows

Experience using Dentrix is strongly preferred.

Computer and Technology Skills

Candidates should be comfortable working with:

  • Electronic dental records
  • Dental appointment scheduling systems
  • Email and electronic correspondence
  • Microsoft Office
  • Scanning and uploading documents
  • Electronic patient forms
  • Dental insurance information
  • Online patient communication platforms

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent spelling and proofreading skills
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Professional telephone etiquette
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a busy pediatric dental office
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to protect confidential patient information
  • Ability to follow detailed written procedures, checklists, and office policies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous dental front-office experience
  • Dentrix experience
  • Dental insurance knowledge or experience
  • Experience working in a pediatric dental practice

Office Schedule

Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM–1:00 PM

Dental Land Pediatrics is a pediatric dental practice located in Bowie, Maryland.

We are looking for someone who values accuracy, professionalism, organization, and excellent service and who wants to become a dependable part of our dental team.

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
