About the Position

The position will initially be approximately 1–2 days per week, with the potential for additional hours or days in the future based on practice growth and scheduling needs.

While the primary focus of this role is general dentistry and hygiene, our practice also provides orthodontic care. Previous orthodontic assisting experience is a strong plus, but is not required. We are happy to train the right candidate; however, candidates should be willing and eager to learn orthodontic assisting and occasionally support orthodontic procedures as needed.

Our ideal candidate is dependable, organized, comfortable working in a clinical environment, and willing to take initiative. Because we are a growing practice, we especially value someone who is flexible, team-oriented, and willing to help wherever needed to keep the office running smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Follow proper infection control, sterilization, and OSHA protocols
  • Maintain and organize dental instruments, supplies, and clinical areas
  • Assist with sterilization and routine equipment maintenance
  • Review medical histories, obtain necessary information, and prepare patients for treatment
  • Enter and update patient information and clinical documentation in the practice management system
  • Help maintain efficient patient flow throughout the office
  • Provide patients with appropriate pre- and post-treatment instructions as directed by the doctor
  • Assist with orthodontic procedures when needed; training can be provided for candidates without previous orthodontic experience
  • Assist with occasional front-desk responsibilities when needed, including greeting patients, scheduling, and consent forms
  • Work collaboratively with doctors, hygienists, and other team members to provide an excellent patient experience
  • Help establish and maintain efficient clinical systems as the practice continues to grow

Qualifications

  • Previous dental assisting experience preferred
  • Experience supporting general dentistry and/or hygiene preferred
  • Dental X-ray certification/license as required by applicable state regulations preferred
  • Experience with digital X-rays and intraoral/3D scanning is a plus
  • Experience with Dentrix Ascend is a plus, but not required
  • Knowledge of dental infection control and sterilization protocols
  • Previous orthodontic assisting experience is a strong plus, but not required
  • Willingness to learn orthodontic assisting is required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable taking initiative and working as part of a small, growing team
  • Positive and professional attitude with a strong focus on patient care
