Dental Hygienist

For over 50 years, our private, non-corporate dental practice has been a staple of the local community. We pride ourselves on maintaining an independent, patient-first approach to dentistry. Many of our patients have been coming to us for decades, and we are looking for a dedicated Registered Dental Hygienist to join our close-knit, supportive team.

Duties

• Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current oral health status.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
• Educate patients on effective oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health.
• Assist the dentist during various procedures with chairside assisting, including handing instruments and managing dental equipment.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) or electronic medical records (EMR), documenting patient interactions, treatment plans, and medical/dental histories in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Follow infection prevention protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment and prevent cross-contamination.
• Manage dental equipment maintenance, sterilization processes, and inventory of supplies to ensure operational efficiency.
• Review documentation for accuracy, adhere to medical coding standards, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.

Skills

• Proficiency in dental software systems such as Curve for scheduling, documentation, and record management.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures.
• Experience with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable for working effectively with young patients.
• Skilled in four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency during clinical procedures.
• Ability to accurately perform vital signs assessment and interpret medical imaging results.
• Excellent client communication skills with a compassionate approach toward patient education and care.
• Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including aseptic technique and sterilization protocols.
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance management to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Experience in dental assisting roles within a busy dental clinic or office environment is preferred.

Pay: $65.00 - $80.00 per hour
