Dental Hygiene Assistant

Responsibilities

• Prepare hygiene chairs with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use according to infection prevention management protocols.
• Assist dentists during exams and procedures by providing chairside support and managing dental instruments efficiently. Then completing a through clinical note.
• Take high-quality dental x-rays and medical imaging while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
• Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems, Dentrix , documenting medical history, treatment notes, and medical coding accurately.
• Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures to promote overall wellness.
• Follow clinical confidentiality policies strictly while maintaining professionalism in all interactions with patients and team members.

Skills (Preferred but not required, on site training will be provided)

• Proficiency with Dentrix, for managing medical records and documentation.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
• Experience with dental equipment including dental sterilization devices, X-ray machines, and other clinical tools.
• Expertise in infection control practices including aseptic technique and healthcare infection prevention protocols.
• Skilled in prophylaxis.
• Ability to operate dental imaging devices including X-ray machines while ensuring radiation safety standards are met.
• Excellent patient care skills with a focus on pediatric dentistry when applicable; compassionate communication is essential.
• Familiarity with medical documentation standards including HIPAA compliance for safeguarding patient information.
• Holding a current CPR/BLS certification. CPR/BLS class can be provided if not current.

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
