Dental Assistant/3 Yrs Exp

We are looking for a compassionate, customer service oriented dental assistant for our thriving dental practice. The best candidate for this position shows great initiative and self-motivation, actively contributing to the overall smooth and successful operation of the practice. They are well-organized and understand the importance of attention to detail. They communicate professionally and effectively with patients, doctors, and coworkers, practicing good listening skills and using respectful tone and verbiage at all times. They must be able to follow instructions, acclimate to new dental software and technology, and they must be able to take feedback well, using it to grow and hone their skills. We expect all of our team members to consistently perform their duties according to professional standards and dental practice regulations. Most of all, we desire our new team member to be skilled in excellent patient care and passionate about their work.

Pay commensurate with experience and skill mastery.

Dental Assistant Responsibilities

• Welcome customers in the dental office
• Prepare customers for treatments or checkups ensuring their comfort
• Make required entries to the patient record accurately and consistently
• Select and set up instruments, equipment and material needed
• Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry
• Undertake lab tasks as instructed
• Provide patients with oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
• Keep the dental rooms clean and well-stocked
• Sterilize instruments according to regulations
• Assist hygienists with patient care, charting new-patients, obtaining x-rays, assist with perio-charting, polishing, and child prophies
• Schedule appointments
• Prepare information needed for treatment pre-authorizations
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with payment procedures

Dental Assistant Skills

• Knowledge and experience in dental assisting required
• Such knowledge and experience includes: familiarity with dental instruments, sterilization methods, non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing, and an understanding of health & safety regulations
• Solid computer skills required, must be able to acclimate to new patient management software and technologies
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment that consists of members with varying backgrounds, approaches, and personalities.
• Attention to detail
• Well-organized, reliable, and flexible
• High school diploma; graduating from dental assistant program is preferred
• Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. EFDA)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
