Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection control protocols.
• Assist dentists during various procedures including restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by handing instruments and managing materials.
• Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners while maintaining proper radiation safety standards.
• Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system like Open dental, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
• Perform chairside assisting with aseptic techniques, vital signs measurement, and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care.
• Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices to promote health literacy.
• Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing medical coding for billing purposes.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of dental experience required.

• Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
• Proficiency with EMR systems including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; experience with medical records management is a plus.
• Ability to perform X-ray imaging accurately while adhering to safety standards; experience with medical imaging tools like 3D scanners is advantageous.
• Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and experience assisting in pediatric cases preferred.
• Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration; previous role as a dental receptionist or in medical documentation is beneficial.
• Certification in dental assisting or related fields; additional certifications in endodontics or prosthodontics are desirable. Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
