Dental Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practices located in Edison & Branchburg, NJ. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth daily operations. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, utilizing advanced dental technology and maintaining high standards of infection control and patient confidentiality. Prior experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix and/or Open Dental is preferred, along with knowledge of HIPAA regulations and dental terminology. Experience in pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or general dentistry is a plus. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in assisting with chairside procedures, taking vital signs, managing medical documentation, and supporting the overall patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
• Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments
• Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners while maintaining strict infection control protocols
• Take and record vital signs and medical history information for patients
• Manage patient records using EMR systems ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards
• Provide chairside assistance during procedures using aseptic techniques and proper dental assisting procedures
• Educate patients on post-treatment care and oral health practices
• Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and coordinating with the front desk team
• Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to infection control standards
• Assist with medical coding and documentation for insurance claims when necessary
• Support pediatric patients with specialized care techniques as needed

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting; familiarity with dental clinic operations preferred
• Proficiency in EMR systems Dentrix, and/or Open Dental; experience with medical imaging and 3D scanners is advantageous
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic techniques
• Ability to perform chairside assisting across various specialties including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics
• Certification in X-ray operation required
• Strong communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with team members
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Knowledge of dental terminology and records management is desirable

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
