Dental Assistant

Duties

• Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
• Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use according to infection prevention management protocols.
• Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental x-ray safety standards and aseptic techniques.
• Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Patient Management Software, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and addressing questions to enhance patient comfort and understanding.
• Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling medical documentation and medical records securely.
• Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist when needed and managing patient flow efficiently.

Skills

• Proficiency with dental software including EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms for seamless patient management.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
• Experience with dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and healthcare infection prevention standards.
• Skilled in chairside assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry and aseptic technique to optimize clinical efficiency.
• Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices safely and effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to educate patients on oral health care and post-treatment instructions while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
• Knowledge of pediatric dentistry procedures and experience working within a pediatric or general dental clinic environment is preferred.

Pay: $27,500.00 - $40,000.00 per year
