Duties

• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies
• Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery, providing necessary instruments and materials efficiently
• Take high-quality dental x-rays and medical imaging using advanced equipment such as 3D scanners, adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols and aseptic techniques
• Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or patient management software while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies in compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Perform vital signs assessment on patients before procedures to ensure their safety and comfort
• Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and answer questions related to dental terminology and procedures
• Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling administrative tasks with professionalism

Skills

• Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental equipment operation
• Experience with infection control standards, dental sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection prevention protocols
• Ability to operate dental imaging devices including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively
• Excellent patient management skills with a focus on compassionate care for diverse populations including pediatric dentistry patients
• Knowledge of oral surgery procedures, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry practices
