Temporary Dental Assistant (Maternity Leave Coverage)

Schedule: Tuesday – Friday (No weekends)

One of our valued dental assistants is heading out on maternity leave, and we are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented professional to step in, seamlessly support our doctors, and keep our patients feeling safe and in good hands.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Chairside Assistance: Provide high-quality chairside assistance to the dentist during exams and specialized procedures (fillings, crowns, sealants, extractions, and implants).
• Patient Care: Greet patients, review medical histories, prepare them for treatment, and confidently educate them on oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions.
• Clinical Prep: Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment in accordance with strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
• Radiography: Efficiently take and process high-quality dental X-rays.
• Records & Software: Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records and update chart notes using Dentrix Ascend practice-management software.
• Office Support: Keep treatment rooms stocked and clean. Assist the front desk team with occasional administrative tasks or scheduling if needed to keep the day running smoothly.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: 2+ years of clinical dental assisting experience preferred.
• Certifications: Valid WA State Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or Licensed Dental Assistant credential, X-Ray Certification, and completion of a bloodborne pathogens class.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with digital dental workflows, computer charting, and familiarity with practice management software (Ascend).
• Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, an eye for detail, and a warm, empathetic personality to comfort anxious patients.
• Flexibility: Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and a willingness to commute to our Valley, South Hill, and North Spokane offices as scheduled.
