Job board comparison
Indeed vs DentalPost for Dental Hiring
Indeed suits a practice that wants to start free โ many jobs post at no cost, and you pay per click or started application only if you sponsor โ while DentalPost suits continuous dental hiring that wants a flat $259 a month, dental-only candidates and assessment-based matching. If you'd rather skip subscriptions entirely, DentistryHires is the third option: $199 for a 30-day Standard listing ($399 Featured) at launch pricing.

What does Indeed cost a dental practice?
The entry price can be zero: many jobs can be posted for free, subject to Indeed's terms, conditions, quality standards and usage limits, and the free tier includes Indeed Apply, screening questions and analytics.
Some jobs are considered "sponsored only" โ for example jobs aggregated from a career site or published from an XML/API feed โ and Indeed reserves the right to require sponsorship for any reason.
Paying happens through Sponsored Jobs, and Indeed publishes no fixed price: its system recommends a budget from market factors such as job competitiveness, your hiring timeline and the supply of job seekers; you are free to set a different amount as long as it meets that job's minimum.
You are then billed for job seeker interactions โ clicks or started applications โ with invoices issued on the first day of the month or when account spending reaches $500, whichever comes first.
After posting, the budget is changed from the employer dashboard, under "Manage Budget".
Two extras to know about.
New U.S. accounts that post a job get a $75 credit toward sponsoring it, which expires one year after account creation.
And Indeed Smart Sourcing โ resume search plus candidate outreach โ is a separate subscription with no price published on the pricing page.
On speed, Indeed's own claim (self-reported) is that Sponsored Jobs posted directly on Indeed with Urgently Hiring make a hire 5 days faster than non-sponsored jobs, based on Indeed data for the U.S. median in Q2 2024.
What does a DentalPost subscription include?
DentalPost sells dental hiring as a subscription.
The Job Posting Subscription is $259 a month, auto-renews each month and can be cancelled anytime before the next billing cycle.
It covers one active job post at a time; you can update it, or close it and swap in a new post whenever you like.
Included in that price: a personalized practice profile, unlimited applications, candidate match scores, and tools to evaluate, message and schedule interviews.
The matching is the differentiator.
Candidates complete assessments โ DISC, Emotional Intelligence, Core Values, Skills and Workplace Culture โ and DentalPost's matching system turns that data into match scores.
The assessments are always free for job seekers, who can also mark themselves open to temp or perm work.
Add-ons are billed monthly on top of the base subscription: Resume Search messaging packs at $149 per 25-pack per month, National Boost at $549 a month (30-day nationwide reach and a newsletter feature) and Distribution at $199 a month (30-day posting on 50+ job sites).
Self-reported scale: DentalPost says its community includes 900K+ dental professionals and 77K+ dental practices, with 300K+ jobs posted to date and 200K+ resumes in Resume Search.
It also offers custom packages and bulk discounts through its corporate recruiting team, and publishes an annual dental salary survey โ the 2026 report is the current edition.
Which is better for a dental practice, Indeed or DentalPost?
They win on different axes.
Indeed's advantage is the entry price and the exit: you can post many jobs for free, sponsor only if you decide to, and sponsoring runs on a per-job budget you control.
The trade-off is that dental candidates sit inside a general audience, and sponsored spend is billed per interaction, with no fixed price published.
DentalPost's advantage is the pool and the signal: the candidates are dental professionals, and match scores come from dental-specific assessments.
The trade-off is the shape of the cost โ $259 every month whether you are hiring or between hires, and one active post at a time.
So: occasional hiring, or a tight lid on spend, leans Indeed.
Continuous dental hiring with a screening method you like, leans DentalPost.
Note that the performance figures on both sides are self-reported: Indeed's 5-days-faster claim and DentalPost's community counts are each company's own.
Should you post on both Indeed and DentalPost?
They are not mutually exclusive, and running both is a reasonable play.
Indeed's organic posts cost nothing within its limits, and DentalPost's pool is dental-only โ the two reach different audiences, and the DentalPost side is what carries the $259 monthly fee.
The real question is what you pay for.
Sponsor on Indeed when a role is urgent and you want to buy interactions; keep the DentalPost subscription when dental-only candidates and assessments are worth $259 a month to you.
And if neither monthly fees nor per-click spend suits a one-off opening, that is the gap a one-time-fee board fills.
Where does DentistryHires fit?
DentistryHires is the third model: a dental-only board where a listing is a one-time payment rather than a subscription.
A Standard listing is $199 and a Featured listing is $399 at launch pricing โ one-time payments for 30-day listings, live as soon as checkout finishes, with candidates applying on your practice's own application.
Listings come both from practices that post directly and from dental employers' career sites and public job feeds.
Practices that are always hiring can move to a group plan instead, arranged by contacting DentistryHires rather than through self-serve checkout: $899 a month for 10 jobs live at all times, or $1,749 a month for 25, billed monthly and cancellable anytime.
Current prices are on the pricing page, and the fact sheet lists the company's full facts.

Frequently asked questions
Is Indeed free for posting dental jobs?
Often, yes.
Indeed says many jobs can be posted for free, subject to its terms, conditions, quality standards and usage limits โ and some jobs are sponsored only, meaning they require payment.
Sponsoring is billed per job seeker interaction (clicks or started applications) against a budget Indeed recommends from market factors and you can adjust.
Spending is invoiced on the first of the month or at $500 in spending, whichever comes first.
How much is DentalPost for employers?
The Job Posting Subscription is $259 per month.
It covers one active job post at a time, auto-renews monthly, and you can cancel anytime before the next billing cycle.
Add-ons cost extra and are billed monthly: Resume Search messaging packs at $149 per 25-pack per month, National Boost at $549 per month and Distribution at $199 per month.
Should I post on Indeed or DentalPost for a hygienist?
They do different jobs.
Indeed gives you a free organic post (many jobs qualify) and a general audience, but you pay per interaction if you sponsor, and dental candidates sit alongside non-dental ones.
DentalPost costs $259 a month for a dental-only pool with assessment-based match scores and one active post at a time.
The two also combine well: the free post on Indeed, the dental-only board alongside it.
What does DentalPost's matching actually use?
Assessment data.
Candidates complete assessments covering DISC, Emotional Intelligence, Core Values, Skills and Workplace Culture, and DentalPost's matching system turns that data into candidate match scores.
The assessments are always free for job seekers, who can also mark themselves open to temp or perm work and upload or build a resume on the site.
How much does it cost to post a dental job on DentistryHires?
A Standard listing is $199 and a Featured listing is $399 at launch pricing (regular prices $299 and $499).
Each is a one-time payment for a 30-day listing on a dental-only board โ no subscription and no renewal.
DSOs and multi-office groups can instead take a group plan, arranged by contacting DentistryHires, at $899 a month for 10 always-live jobs or $1,749 a month for 25.
Does Indeed charge per click or per application?
Both.
Indeed says Sponsored Job invoices reflect spending on job seeker interactions like clicks or started applications.
There is no published per-click or per-application rate: Indeed's system recommends a budget from factors such as job competitiveness, your hiring timeline and the supply of job seekers, and you can set a different amount as long as it meets the job's minimum.
Which job board has more dental candidates, Indeed or DentalPost?
Our research found no independent count of dental candidates for any of the three boards.
DentalPost self-reports a community of 900K+ dental professionals and 77K+ dental practices; our check of Indeed's pricing page found no dental-specific figure, and DentistryHires publishes no candidate counts at all.
The practical test is cheap: post the same role in both places for a couple of weeks and compare the applicants you actually get.
