Job Overview

Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring proper technique and patient safety
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
• Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
• Follow strict infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment
• Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, ensuring a positive experience while maintaining HIPAA compliance and confidentiality

Skills

• Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation and scheduling
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry
• Experience with pediatric dentistry and providing care tailored to children’s needs
• Expertise in medical imaging techniques, including dental X-ray procedures and interpretation
• Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about their oral health
• Familiarity with infection control standards, healthcare regulations, including HIPAA compliance management
• Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures in general dentistry settings
• Knowledge of medical coding for billing purposes related to dental services
• Ability to assess patient needs accurately and deliver compassionate care in a fast-paced environment
