Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status.
• Capture and interpret dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring radiation safety protocols.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term health.
• Assist with chairside procedures by preparing treatment rooms, handling dental instruments, and maintaining aseptic techniques.
• Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix), documenting treatment details accurately and reviewing medical records for comprehensive patient care.
• Ensure infection prevention measures are strictly followed, including sterilization of equipment and adherence to HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
• Support general dentistry and pediatric dentistry procedures, demonstrating expertise in pediatric-specific care when necessary.
• Collaborate seamlessly with dentists and other team members during four-handed dentistry procedures for efficient patient flow.
• Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, providing excellent client communication and ensuring a positive experience.

Qualifications

• Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
• Proven experience working in dental office settings, with familiarity using EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, anatomy, and dental equipment operation.
• Skilled in dental x-ray techniques, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques to ensure safe practice standards.
• Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics.
• Ability to perform detailed documentation review and maintain accurate medical records while complying with HIPAA regulations.
• Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices relevant to dental environments.
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment supporting general dentistry or pediatric dentistry procedures.
