Registered Dental Hygienist

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled temporary Registered Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team from January 2027 to March 2027 for a maternity leave. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care, excellent communication skills, and a comprehensive understanding of dental hygiene practices. As a key member of our clinic, you will provide preventive dental services, educate patients on oral health, and support the overall functioning of the dental practice. Your expertise will contribute to delivering exceptional dental care in a professional and compassionate environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to promote optimal oral health.
• Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral conditions.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs.
• Assist with dental procedures by preparing the treatment area, managing dental equipment, and ensuring aseptic techniques are followed.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to infection prevention protocols and radiation safety standards.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and safeguarding sensitive information.
• Support infection control practices by sterilizing instruments, managing medical waste, and adhering to healthcare infection prevention standards.
• Collaborate with dentists and other team members in providing comprehensive general dentistry services, including pediatric dentistry when applicable.
• Stay current with advancements in dental terminology, medical coding, and industry best practices to enhance patient care quality.

Qualifications

• Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting.
• Proven experience in dental hygiene within a dental clinic or healthcare environment.
• Proficiency in using EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and management of medical records.
• Strong knowledge of dental equipment operation, dental x-ray procedures, and medical imaging techniques.
• Familiarity with pediatric dentistry principles and pediatric patient care considerations is preferred.
• Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about dental care and oral health maintenance.
• Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for optimal patient comfort.
• Understanding of medical terminology, medical coding practices, and HIPAA compliance requirements for safeguarding patient information.
