Registered Dental Hygienist

Duties

• Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental x-ray equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
• Conduct patient assessments by measuring vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary advice for optimal dental health.
• Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
• Follow infection prevention management protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and sterilizing dental equipment according to healthcare standards.
• Review documentation, medical history, and medical coding to support comprehensive patient care documentation.
• Support pediatric dentistry procedures by creating a friendly environment for young patients and understanding pediatric-specific dental needs.
• Ensure all dental equipment is functioning properly and report any maintenance issues promptly to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification.
• Proven experience in general dentistry or dental clinic environments with familiarity in dental assisting roles.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices.
• Experience with dental x-ray procedures and understanding of radiation safety standards.
• Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on dental care practices.
• Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise including aseptic techniques.
• Ability to work efficiently in a team environment practicing four-handed dentistry for optimal patient care flow.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Pay: From $52.00 per hour
