Duties

• Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth, removing plaque and tartar, and applying fluoride treatments to promote oral health.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews, to ensure safe and effective treatment plans.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while maintaining radiation safety standards.
• Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency and patient comfort.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary advice tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting all treatments, observations, and patient interactions clearly and thoroughly.
• Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Skills

• Proficiency in dental software such as Open Dental for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation and billing.
• Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with children in a dental setting.
• Expertise in dental x-ray techniques, medical imaging, and maintaining radiation safety standards.
• Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about dental care and treatment options.
• Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices aligned with HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality.
• Ability to operate dental equipment efficiently while adhering to infection prevention management protocols.

Pay: $47.00 - $55.00 per hour
