Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current oral health status to inform treatment plans.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing techniques, and preventive care strategies tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable.
• Assist dentists during procedures through chairside assisting, ensuring all dental equipment is prepared and maintained according to infection prevention protocols.
• Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix with accuracy, documenting treatment details and updating medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Maintain strict infection control standards by implementing aseptic techniques, sterilizing instruments, and managing healthcare infection prevention measures.
• Support the dental team with general office duties including reviewing documentation, medical coding, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA policies for patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures.
• Proven experience in dental care patient education, chairside assisting, and utilizing EHR systems like Open Dental
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental equipment operation.
• Expertise in infection prevention management, healthcare infection control practices, and maintaining a sterile environment.
• Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction, patient education, and team collaboration within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings.
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance management and medical coding processes for accurate documentation review.
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments such as dental clinics or offices specializing in pediatric dentistry.

Pay: From $47.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24.0 – 32.0 per week
