Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, materials, and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized according to infection prevention management protocols.
• Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery, providing support with dental instrument processing and aseptic technique.
• Take high-quality dental x-rays and medical imaging while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
• Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Open Dental, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment plans.
• Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-operative instructions, and preventive measures to promote long-term dental health.
• Handle patient management software efficiently to schedule appointments, update medical documentation, and coordinate patient flow smoothly.
• Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while supporting infection prevention management through proper sterilization procedures and dental equipment maintenance.
• Support the dental receptionist duties when needed by managing patient check-in/out processes and answering basic inquiries with professionalism.
• Assist with dental sterilization procedures and ensure compliance with healthcare infection prevention and control standards.
• Contribute to four-handed dentistry by working seamlessly with the dentist and team members to enhance efficiency during clinical procedures.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting, preferably with 2+ years of experience in dental clinic.
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Open Dental for managing electronic health records effectively.
• Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures including X-ray techniques, dental x-ray safety protocols, and medical documentation standards.
• Hands-on experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection control policies, and aseptic techniques aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards.
• Ability to perform chairside assisting with competence in general dentistry procedures as well as specialized areas like endodontics or prosthodontics.
• Strong understanding of dental terminology related to dentistry and oral health care practices.
• Excellent communication skills for patient care delivery and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team focused on pediatric dentistry or other specialties.

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
