Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions using EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper positioning and adherence to radiation safety protocols.
• Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow efficiency.
• Maintain strict infection prevention protocols by following aseptic techniques, sterilizing equipment, and managing healthcare infection control measures.
• Document all procedures accurately in electronic health records while reviewing documentation for completeness and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Monitor patient vital signs during visits and recognize signs of medical emergencies or contraindications requiring further assessment.
• Support the dental team with equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure smooth clinic operations.
• Uphold patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA standards and managing sensitive medical records responsibly.

Qualifications

• Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH).
• Proven experience in dental hygiene practice within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings.
• Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy related to oral health.
• Skilled in dental x-ray procedures with certification in radiography if required by state law.
• Familiarity with infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards.
• Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about dental care.
• Experience working with electronic health records (EHR) systems and documentation review processes.
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while providing compassionate patient care.
