Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary orthodontic instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to patient appointments.
• Assist orthodontists during various procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings using four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Take and develop dental x-rays, including intraoral images and 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort.
• Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
• Provide patient education on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment instructions.
• Process dental instruments following sterilization procedures to ensure infection prevention management is upheld at all times.
• Monitor vital signs as needed during appointments and assist with medical documentation related to patient health history.
• Support the dental team with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow with patient management software, and greeting patients as a dental receptionist.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in an orthodontic or general dentistry setting; experience in pediatric dentistry or oral surgery is a plus.
• Proficiency in dental terminology, dental equipment operation, and medical imaging techniques including X-ray procedures.
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for efficient record keeping.
• Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and dental sterilization procedures.
• Strong understanding of dental anatomy, dental assisting protocols, and clinical confidentiality policies.
• Ability to perform chairside assisting with proficiency in four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about their treatment plans and oral health maintenance.
• Certification in dental assisting or relevant healthcare infection control training is preferred; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or endodontics are advantageous.
