Dental Front Office Coordinator

Location: 180 South Broadway, Suite 2, Hicksville, NY 11801
Compensation: $24-$28 per hour
Patient Mix: PPO / FFS / Medicaid
Schedule:  Monday - Friday 8:30 till 6:00 pm
Benefits Eligibility: Employees regularly scheduled to work full time be eligible for benefits. 

About the Role 

We are looking for an experienced dental front office professional to join our Hicksville practice.

This is not simply a receptionist position. We need someone who understands how a busy dental office works and can take ownership of patients, schedules, insurance and collections from beginning to end.

Our Hicksville office is a 9-operatory, multi-provider practice serving a diverse and excellent patient base with a mix of Medicaid and PPO patients. The practice is under new management with significant investment being made in the office, team, systems and patient growth. We also provide centralized revenue-cycle support so the front office is not expected to solve every insurance or billing issue alone.

What You'll Do 

You should be comfortable independently managing the core front-office workflow, including:

• Medicaid eligibility, benefits, prior authorizations/predeterminations and required documentation
• PPO insurance verification and understanding patient benefits
• Reading a patient ledger and being able to explain balances accurately
• Collecting copays, deductibles, balances and treatment payments at the appropriate time helping patients understand their financial responsibility
• Following outstanding treatment and helping patients get scheduled
• Reappointing patients before they leave, particularly hygiene patients
• Keeping providers’ schedules full and productive
• Confirming appointments and actively working cancellations and open time
• Checking patients in and out efficiently
• Understanding when an insurance or billing issue needs to be escalated to our RCM team
• Keeping accurate notes and following through on unresolved patient issues
• Arriving on time, being dependable and taking ownership of your responsibilities

Requirements

• Prior experience working in a dental office with a meaningful Medicaid patient population is required.
• You should already understand that Medicaid dentistry has specific authorization, eligibility and documentation requirements and be comfortable working within those processes.
• We are especially interested in someone who:
• Has strong dental front-office experience
• Is comfortable asking patients for money professionally and directly
• Can read and understand a patient ledger rather than simply quoting whatever balance appears on the screen
• Understands predeterminations/prior authorizations and follows them through to completion
• Knows how to keep patients moving through the practice and get them reappointed
• Is organized, responsive and reliable
• Doesn’t allow unresolved items to sit without follow-up
• Highschool Degree or equivalent

Preferred 

• Experience with treatment presentation and financial arrangements 

• Experience with dental practice management software 

• Experience in PPO, Fee-for-Service, and/or Medicaid environments 

• Bilingual skills (if applicable to market)
