Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA)

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring smooth operations within the dental office. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Duties

• Assist dentists during examinations and procedures by providing necessary instruments and materials.
• Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and treatment areas in compliance with infection control protocols.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
• Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately in medical records.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, post-operative care, and preventive dental practices.
• Manage appointment scheduling, including confirming appointments and following up with patients as necessary.
• Maintain accurate patient records using Open Dental
• Place composite & Polish restorations
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.

Skills

• Proficient understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy.
• Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
• Knowledge of endodontics and other dental specialties is a plus.
• Experience in managing medical records efficiently.
• Previous experience as a dental receptionist is advantageous.
• Competence in using Eaglesoft or similar dental software for record management.
• Strong skills in dental assisting techniques, including taking vital signs and infection control practices.
• Solid understanding of anatomy related to oral health is essential.

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
