Expanded Functions Dental Assistant EFDA

Overview

Join our dental care team as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), supporting patients and clinicians through attentive care and efficient clinical workflows. You’ll assist with general dentistry and, as applicable to your training and authorized scope; restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery. Your impact: Accurate, compassionate chairside support helps patients feel informed and helps clinicians deliver coordinated care.

Duties

• Provide chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry; prepare and maintain dental equipment and instruments.
• Support patient management, take vital signs, and assist with dental X-rays and other medical imaging as authorized.
• Process instruments using dental sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and infection prevention and control practices.
• Maintain medical records and documentation in EMR (electronic medical record) and patient management software, including SoftDent.
• Support dental receptionist tasks as needed while protecting patient privacy and following HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and clinical confidentiality policies.

Requirements

• Dental assisting experience in a dental clinic; EFDA qualifications and duties and possess a current license to practice in Pennsylvania.
• Knowledge of dental and medical terminology, anatomy, patient care, and infection control; healthcare infection prevention and control expertise is valued.
• Experience with dental instrument processing, dental X-rays, dental equipment and 3D scanner.
• Familiarity with EMR systems, medical documentation, medical records, SoftDent, or other patient management software is preferred.

Strong communication and organization skills, with a patient-focused approach and careful attention to confidentiality.

Pay: $26.00 - $31.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.0 per week
