Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our vibrant dental team. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional patient care by performing advanced dental procedures, assisting with clinical operations, and ensuring smooth workflow within our modern dental practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, Invisalign, endodontics, Implants and prosthodontics.
• Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
• Digital full mouth x-rays and 3D scans with itero while adhering to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
• Manage dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and maintain clinical equipment to meet infection control standards.
• Prepare treatment rooms and ensure all dental tools and materials are ready for scheduled procedures.
• Document medical and dental records accurately using patient management software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar EMR systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Monitor vital signs and assist in patient management to ensure safety and comfort throughout appointments.
• Support the dental receptionist by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments, and updating medical documentation efficiently.
• Uphold clinical confidentiality policies and maintain high standards of infection control according to healthcare regulations.
• Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on expanded functions or similar clinical roles within a busy dental clinic environment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for medical documentation and records management.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment operation, and medical imaging techniques including X-ray procedures.
• Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and the unique needs of young patients is preferred.
• Experience performing dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention protocols, and aseptic techniques in compliance with healthcare standards.
• Ability to handle dental instruments efficiently during complex procedures like oral surgery or endodontics while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
• Excellent communication skills for patient care coordination and collaboration with the dental team.

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.0 – 38.0 per week
