Exceptional Dental Assistant

Our boutique practice is looking for an energetic dental assistant who is positive, self motivated and patient focused. You’ll ensure excellent customer service and be able to perform chairside procedures in a team oriented environment. Dental assistants should be well-organized with great attention to detail. We perform a wide range of treatments and are willing to train on any procedure with the right attitude. We want you to be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care and able to make office procedures as smooth as possible. Spanish speaking is a plus. Previous front office experience a plus. This position may entail maintaining OSHA/IC logs.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients in the dental office
• Prepare patients for treatment
• Select and set up instruments, equipment and materials needed
• Sterilize instruments according to infection control best practices
• Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry for fillings, crown and bridge, invisalign, whitening, oral surgery including implants and root canals
• Take excellent radiographs including conebeam, intraoral and extraoral images, scan teeth with our Trios scanner, occasional impressions, make temporaries, pour up models, adjust removable appliances, blood pressure and health histories, and patient interviews all with limited assistance (or willingness to be trained in these areas)
• Undertake lab tasks as instructed and send out and receive cases
• provide and record office dental equipment maintenance
• Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
• Keep the dental room clean and well-stocked
• Maintain accurate patient records

Skills

• Proven experience as dental assistant and willingness to be trained
• Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
• Understanding of health & safety regulations
• Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus
• Good computer skills
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Attention to detail
• Well-organized and reliable
• High school diploma; graduating from dental assistant school is preferred
• Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. EFDA)

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 38.0 per week
