Dental Insurance Coordinator

Duties

• Verify dental insurance coverage and eligibility for patients prior to treatment appointments
• Obtain insurance authorizations and manage prior authorization requests efficiently
• Maintain detailed documentation of insurance interactions, approvals, denials, and patient communications
• Educate patients on their dental insurance benefits, coverage limitations, and out-of-pocket costs
• Stay current with health insurance policy changes, managed care updates, and coding guidelines to optimize reimbursement processes

Skills

• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality protocols in medical records management
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) management software and Microsoft Office tools
• Knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care plans, and insurance verification processes
• Ability to handle insurance prior authorization requests efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service standards
• Familiarity with dental terminology related to dental procedures and clinical documentation requirements
• Effective communication skills for liaising with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare team members
• Attention to detail in verifying insurance accurately and adhering to clinical confidentiality policies
