Responsibilities

• Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning and polishing teeth to remove plaque, tartar, and stains.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental x-ray equipment, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current oral health status.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care strategies, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health.
• Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside assisting, managing dental instruments and ensuring infection prevention protocols are followed.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) by documenting treatment details, medical records, and medical coding accurately.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and safeguarding sensitive information.
• Support infection control measures by adhering to aseptic techniques and sterilizing dental equipment according to healthcare standards.
• Collaborate with team members to manage appointment schedules efficiently and provide excellent client communication throughout the patient visit.

Requirements

• Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures.
• Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments preferred; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus.
• Proficiency in using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental equipment operation.
• Experience with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency during patient care.
• Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and X-ray procedures safely and accurately.
• Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and infection prevention management.
• Excellent communication skills for effective client education and team collaboration.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for documentation review and medical coding processes.
• Commitment to HIPAA compliance management and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
