Dental Hygienist

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Hygienist to join our vibrant dental team on Tuesdays 9:00 am until 6:00 with an hour lunch and Fridays 8:00 am until 2:00 pm with no lunch. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care through thorough dental cleanings, patient education, and assisting the dentist with various procedures. Your expertise will help promote optimal oral health, ensure patient comfort, and uphold the highest standards of infection control and confidentiality. Duties

• Perform dental prophylaxis (cleanings), including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety
• Conduct patient assessments by measuring vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
• Assist the dentist chairside during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort
• Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix), documenting treatment details, medical history, and dental charts
• Follow infection prevention protocols, including sterilization of dental equipment and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and comply with HIPAA regulations
• Review medical records for relevant health information, ensuring comprehensive patient assessments
• Manage dental imaging procedures with precision, ensuring high-quality images for diagnosis
• Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control standards

Experience

• Prior experience working in a dental office or clinic setting is required, with familiarity in general dentistry procedures preferred
• Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable
• Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is a plus, especially when working with pediatric patients
• Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology to facilitate effective communication and documentation
• Experience with dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting and patient care management
• Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques
• Excellent client communication skills to educate patients effectively about their oral health needs
