Dental Hygienist | Killeen Dental Health Center

If you're an experienced dental hygienist who loves patient care but wishes you had more time to do it well, Killeen Dental Health Center may be worth a conversation.

Our hygiene model is built around quality care, patient education, and clinical autonomy, not simply seeing more patients. Our hygienists primarily work independent, single-column schedules with 60-minute recall appointments and 90-minute new-patient appointments. A fully scheduled day is typically around 7 patients.

You'll work alongside experienced doctors, hygienists, and clinical team members in an environment where comprehensive care, continued learning, and collaboration are part of the everyday experience.

What Hygiene Looks Like Here

  • 60-minute recall appointments
  • 90-minute new-patient appointments
  • Primarily single-column hygiene
  • Approximately 7 patients per day when fully scheduled
  • Flexibility to allow appropriate time for periodontal treatment based on patient needs
  • Significant clinical autonomy and ownership of your patients' care
  • Strong collaboration between hygiene and our doctors
  • Cross-trained clinical team members available to provide additional support when needed
  • A comprehensive periodontal program with modern technology and adjunctive treatment options
  • Digital imaging and technology, including iTero
  • A strong emphasis on patient education and helping patients understand the why behind their care

A Place to Keep Growing

We want experienced clinicians, but we don't believe experience means you should stop learning.

You'll work alongside knowledgeable clinicians who enjoy teaching, sharing ideas, and learning from one another. You'll also have access to hygiene mentorship, continuing education opportunities, peer collaboration, and a broader professional community.Killeen Dental Health Center is a Heartland Dental supported office, which gives our team access to the resources and professional community of a large dental organization while allowing our office to maintain the team culture and clinical environment that make KDHC unique.

We invest in developing our clinical team as our practice grows. When we introduce services or technologies that require additional training, we may sponsor the training needed for our clinicians to provide those services.

Our Culture

We call our culture Better Today Than Yesterday. For us, that means creating a workplace where people can enjoy coming to work, trust the people around them, and continuously get better at what they do.

We work hard to maintain a friendly, respectful, and collaborative environment with clear expectations and open communication. Problems are addressed directly rather than allowed to build, teammates help one another rather than keep score, and feedback is meant to help people improve, not tear them down.

The result is a team environment where we can focus our energy on our patients, our work, and each other rather than unnecessary workplace friction.

Four commitments guide how we work together every day:

  • Own Your Outcome: Take responsibility not just for completing a task, but for helping achieve the result.
  • Make the Team Better: Share what you know, accept help when you need it, and step in to help others succeed.
  • Tell the Truth Early: Communicate questions, concerns, mistakes, and problems while there's still time to do something about them.
  • Practice Grace with Accountability: Hold ourselves and one another to high standards while treating people with respect and preserving their dignity.

These expectations apply to everyone, including leadership. We don't expect perfection. We do expect honesty, ownership, respect, teamwork, and a willingness to keep improving.

Who We're Looking For

We're especially interested in a hygienist who:

  • Is confident clinically and committed to high-quality patient care
  • Has strong periodontal assessment and nonsurgical periodontal therapy skills
  • Is an excellent chairside communicator and patient educator
  • Is invested in helping patients understand their oral health, clinical findings, and recommended treatment
  • Values clinical autonomy while also enjoying collaboration
  • Takes ownership and follows through
  • Communicates early when something isn't going as planned
  • Is receptive to feedback and willing to offer constructive input in return
  • Enjoys learning from knowledgeable colleagues and sharing their own knowledge with others
  • Is comfortable with technology and continued clinical development
  • Wants to contribute to a high-performing team rather than simply work alongside one

Three or more years of clinical hygiene experience is preferred, but years alone don't determine fit. We're more interested in clinical confidence, communication skills, judgment, accountability, and a genuine commitment to excellent patient care.

Experience with Dentrix and iTero is a plus, but not required.
