Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring optimal oral health for each patient
• Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using chairside assisting techniques and dental terminology expertise
• Take and develop dental x-rays (X-ray) while following strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
• Conduct patient assessments by measuring vital signs, reviewing medical history, and evaluating oral health status
• Educate patients on proper dental care practices, including oral hygiene techniques and preventive measures tailored for pediatric dentistry when applicable
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation review within electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and managing medical records securely
• Support infection prevention management through sterilization of dental equipment and adherence to healthcare infection prevention standards
• Collaborate with the team on medical coding, documentation review, and EMR/EHR management to streamline patient care processes
• Stay updated on dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and new dental equipment to provide the highest quality care

Experience

• Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting, with familiarity in general dentistry procedures
• Prior experience in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable, demonstrating comfort working with children of all ages
• Proficiency in using dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and medical records management
• Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and healthcare safety standards
• Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and EMR/EHR systems to accurately document patient interactions
• Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration
• Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to all safety protocols
