Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies.
• Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including X-ray imaging, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Take and develop dental X-rays using dental x-ray equipment and 3D scanners while adhering to radiation safety protocols.
• Manage patient records accurately using patient management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
• Monitor vital signs and medical documentation for patients as needed, maintaining thorough medical records in accordance with healthcare infection prevention and control standards.
• Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and assisting with patient management throughout visits.
• Support the dental team by processing dental instruments, maintaining dental equipment, and ensuring a sterile environment through aseptic technique and infection control practices.

Skills

• Proficiency with EMR systems such as Open Dental for managing medical records and scheduling appointments.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical procedures across general dentistry disciplines including pediatric dentistry and oral surgery.
• Experience with dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic technique.
• Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other clinical tools safely and effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with the dental team as well as educate patients about oral health care.
• Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control expertise to uphold strict clinical confidentiality policies.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment practicing four-handed dentistry techniques for optimal patient outcomes.
