Open Smiles Dental is a growing private dental practice owned and operated by one dentist, Kolade Akinwande, DDS. Unlike a corporate dental office, our practice offers a personal, team-centered environment where employees can build meaningful relationships with patients, work directly with the owner-dentist, and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

We are seeking one dependable, energetic, and compassionate dental assistant to join our team as soon as possible.

The ideal candidate is organized, attentive to detail, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and committed to providing an excellent patient experience. Previous dental assisting experience is preferred, but we will consider a motivated candidate who demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and a strong desire to learn.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials
• Assist Dr. Akinwande during general, restorative, surgical, implant, and cosmetic procedures
• Take diagnostic dental radiographs when appropriately certified
• Follow infection-control and sterilization protocols
• Review medical histories and prepare patients for treatment
• Take impressions, clinical photographs, and digital scans as trained and permitted
• Provide postoperative and oral-hygiene instructions
• Document treatment accurately in patients’ charts
• Maintain dental supplies and report inventory needs
• Support an efficient schedule by anticipating the dentist’s needs
• Help patients feel comfortable, informed, and cared for
• Assist the clinical and front-office teams when necessary

Qualifications

• Dental assisting experience preferred
• Maryland dental radiology certification strongly preferred
• Knowledge of infection control and instrument sterilization
• Familiarity with Eaglesoft is a plus
• Experience with oral surgery, implants, digital scanning, or expanded duties is a plus
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Professional appearance and positive attitude
• Dependable transportation and consistent attendance
• Ability to work effectively with patients and team members
• Ability to remain calm and productive in a busy clinical environment

Compensation

• $18.00–$23.00 per hour based on experience, qualifications, and certifications
