Dental Assistant

Duties

• Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and oral surgery treatments
• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies
• Take and develop dental X-rays using dental x-ray equipment and 3D scanners, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed
• Manage patient records accurately using patient management software Dentrix, including updating medical documentation and medical records while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies
• Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and addressing patient questions with professionalism and empathy
• Maintain clinical cleanliness through infection control practices, aseptic technique, and proper dental instrument processing to prevent cross-contamination
• Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow as a dental receptionist, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations

Experience

• Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, or prosthodontics is advantageous
• Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical imaging techniques is essential for effective communication and documentation
• Hands-on experience with dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, sterilizers, and other clinical tools is desirable
• Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control standards as well as aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety
• Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry practices to optimize workflow and patient comfort
